COMMENTS:
I hope you fundamentalists will forgive the ballot title; it may sound like heresy, but if you consider it, I don't believe it is. Just remember: It is a question -- not an atack.
If there is a God he better a damn good reason for his lack of compassion. Think God is great? Well what has he done for you lately?

For me, I need to know that a God is Good ... not just powerful. Merciful and Just, not just wrathful and omnipotent. And if I am wrong? Well ... I couldn't follow a God who was very different from what I've described, anyway.
B_P: Questions of Theodicy are on other ballots. ;-)
Ill go for "Sure it is!" just in case....{looks up}
Cathexis. Have no fear. God is love, truth and beauty. Once you experience God's love (which is a possibility for any human being on the planet) you will not be able to help worshipping Him/It/Whatever you want to call it. The powers that be have it made at the moment. Either you trust to blind faith with an organised religion or you trust to blind faith with scientific meterialism. If you were to seek out God your ballot question would cease to have any relevance for you.
God is bi-polar.

I was always taught to love my parents who created me no matter what, so guess God deserves the same courtesy. just my opinion
I'm a lapsed Catholic, and the greater reason for that is the question of why so many rat bastards run free and wild while those who are just trying to get from Point A to Point B without being nuked end UP being nuked. My friends who are still in the Church tell me that it's all part of God's Plan. Well, I want to SEE that plan, enough to have PROOF that it's NOT just a beautifully bound collection of blank parchment. The day I get THAT is the day I'm on the Bandwagon.
TS: So you would have to have the Theodicy issue settled first, right? That is the "one mor ething" in your ballot option?
I agree with Larry. We look up to God as a parent. B_P: Yes, life is nothing special at times, but if cosmologists are wright, we are a fluke. So be happy to be here. Even if the universe was a completly natural event, I still respect it.
No, God is not worthy of worship. Maybe he is omnipotent, maybe he did create us. So what? Even if he is like a parent, you don't worship your parents, do you?
If God is God, he is worthy of our praise.
Why are there so many people on this site that have no faith? Of course God is worthy of our worship. If you actually have a glimpse of God's love then you can do nothing but worship Him for making all love and life possible. I feel sad for people who are lost in the darkness. All you need is just the briefest connection to the ultimate truth and then all of this pointless internet questioning will be over. I am shocked at how few people are even prepared to come out of their tiny little holes.
cretin: The headline is a bit provacative, but look at the ballot criteria ... Is being OMNIPOTENT, ina nd of itself, sufficient reason to love/worship? You are already assuming God has qualities IN ADDITION to being omnipotence, thus he is deserving. My hypothetical is: Is omnipotence enough?
Why do you even want to know the answer such an abstract waste of time?
Omnipotence can't be reason enough, because it has no moral value. It's just like loving your boss, for being your boss.
In your blurb at the top you also included that God merely created all life and the universe so I think I was mislead. Would you say that omnipotence without anything else is pure potentiality?
cretin: It doesn't speak to the nature of God so much as it speaks to the nature of Man. It is my conjecture that too many worship for the wrong reasons, and hence, are easily deluded by Power. Of what use is worship and fealty, if merely as a response to Power?
Oooh. Now I get it. I feel compelled to worship God because He is the very essence of what we know of love. He is powerful. We all know that something has to move all of the inert atoms around while telling them what elements they are supposed to be. But it's the love that makes me worship.
NO...
Will you say that when you're facing death? Are you really sure there's no God? Being the untimate creator of all things in the universe and corrresponding omnipotent is reason enough I should think. What is the universe, where does it begin and where does it end? Is there a beginning and end? Who and what are we and why are we here? How can anyone ask these questions and not come to the logical conclusion there must be a supreme being (that term doesn't do It justice, call It God). To deny God's existence is the height of narcissism.
it is better know him and not need him than to need him and not have him
simple and plan..... NO
Nope dont get me wrong I believe in a higher power but I dont worship it. I just enjoy my life.

If God really did create life as we know it, then we should be angry with him, at best. God creating the universe does not mean he created life.
