This world has become full of backstabbers that worship the almighty dollar and this is definately a setback to the human condition. Apparently you can't have both and be sucessful.
This is a great question. What's our natural state? Are we descent humanists or caniving capitalist with no regard for human rights. Are government regulations the only mechanisms that keep us from completely raping each other in business? It seems that an unrestricted free market system might not be too ethical. I guess it depends on one's interpretation of humanity. Are we fallen angels or mammals? Good question.
Human decency seems to be going the way of the Dodo. I've lost all faith in humanity. There's no sense in being loyal to your employer, because they don't care about you. Very sad.
You can't have one without the other.
Sadly, these don't *have* to be mutually exclusive ... if we had Human Decency, almost any economic system would work better than it does now. Although, total Free Market does leave unadressed many ills.
I feel we can have an ethical economy, where fairness can go hand in hand with the desire to make a profit. I could go on in great length as to how I would try to achieve this, but I know people avoid huge speeches. My mantra has always remained the same, a fair days pay for a fair days work.
Breaking up the cartels would go a long way.
