COMMENTS:
It's about time somebody said it. He wasn't speaking againt racial diversity but rather cultural diversity. If they want to keep their culture than they can stay in their country.
I can understand what you mean, MrTroche, but at the same time, 1) America is known as a melting pot, and 2) this isn't even about cultural assimilation. This is about legal Mexican immigrants having rights -- rights that are already provided to them. That, and America is a diverse nation. If Republicans start restricting diversity, we'll be going back to the time of the slaves.
The melting pot is the ideal but unfortunately many of these new immigrants are trying to have a salad bowl instead. This is a personal issue for me; my parents are both immigrants from Hispanic nations. I get crap in the mail written in Spanish just because of my surname. That sort of marketing indicates that these people are not assimilating. There should still be a stigma associated with the inability to speak and understand English. I don't know how well the Mexicans monitor who they give those IDs to so I'll wait before I pass judgement on that specific issue. But it seems like they would have to use some form of Mexican ID to get here in the first place.
i cant imagine why other countries look at the US and cringe. these are your representatives.
the same thing is happening all over. i'm also scared. i'm a bit of a freak but i've been having real bad premonitions about what's going on. as a nation we really are like frogs in cold water that's being slowly heated to the boiling point.
