COMMENTS:
Before I start I want it to be known Im not anti-American just anti-American Administration, just like Im not anti-Semitic just anti Israeli Administration. That said I have to say my opinion of America was changed due to research. The advent of the Internet gives us access to a world of information that we may not have been privy too otherwise. I became very disillusioned with the US when Bush was elected initially. Then I started to read more and more about America and its foreign policy. Not just Bush but all the way back. The US has done some great things in its history but I have to say that the terrible deeds done in the name of America by far out weigh the good. Various peoples have been massacred at American hands going right back to the 1800s. America has been seen to be greedy. America has been seen to be hypocritical in its actions. Do as I say and not as I do. The constant US support for Israel really capped it for me though. It disgusts me to see the American administration champion the fight against terrorism and then blindly support a terrorist state like Israel. It disgusts me to hear Bush mouth off about Iraq violating 12 UN resolutions when Israel has been in breech of over 40. Practice what you preach. As a kid I envied America and wanted one day to live there. Now Id be happy enough never to step foot in the place again.

Well B_P beat me to it! Pretty much all of the above! Including that as a child i wanted to go there! I will add that americans are taught in school to see the rest of the world as below them! I know that your history books have been used to distort the truth! hell you know more about the holocaust than you do about your own civil war! and that again shows a strong jewish influence! I dont blame the people either because its been a diabolical masterplan to enslave a nation and use it to justify war for its own gains! I think its time the general american population woke up and realised it is being used!
by xxxxxxxx on Thu Oct 07, 04 10:13am [+]

Its just as well the second world war and britain led the way to the internet coz i`m sure it would never have been implemented by an american government! But the truth is now available and you cant put it back! Where it`s leading i dread to think but at least its leading somewhere and we should make the most of the oppertunities it gives us to spread truth! it was a very brave ballot usmc and i salute you!
by xxxxxxxx on Thu Oct 07, 04 10:19am [+]

I have to ask tho! just how many americans will vote on here! I`m assuming quite a few already have! This makes your answer distorted! I dont know many non americans that would put bush or iraq! they are just putting what they think we believe again another reason why my opinion has changed! I`ve found americans even answer questions about themselves which is a little odd in anybodies book!
by xxxxxxxx on Thu Oct 07, 04 10:40am [+]

yeah, maybe I should have put non americans if that is what is happening mobsie
by USMC on Thu Oct 07, 04 11:00am [+]

would it have made any difference tho? i wonder! i did a similar thing put non americans only and over 50 people voted but i know from a poll of who`s from where that there are on avarage around 10 non americans on a day! and that shrinks exponentially to a numbe less than 50! There probably is a way around this but thats for lcd to decide i suppose! If you restrict a country then the ip would block them! You always get a smart arse with a hidden ip but u could just block them outright!

US forein policy under GWB.
by ABC on Thu Oct 07, 04 11:37am [+]

- I began pretty much pro-American actually. Ignorantly making too many assumptions about the US.

- It was when I began to research the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that my opinion changed (the official turning point for me is the Israel issue). That is when I first began to question my once upon a time 'hero'. Then I began to interact a lot more with Americans, and their whole attitude of 'we are better than you- compared to us your'e nothing'. I began to become anti-American as I learnt more and more of past and present atrocities caused by USA.

- 9/11: I experienced a total swing away from my anti-Americanism. I actually found myself supporting the US. During this time I based most of my opinions on 'the main-stream news', I was too busy for anyother research.

-The Iraq war brought me back to reality and reawoke my anti-Americanism only much worst than it ever was before.

Many reasons. But America's failure to ratify the Kyoto Accord was the last straw.

You know the feeling when the person you most trust and respect disappoints you? When you find out that your hero is really immoral and obnoxious? That is what I feel in regards to the US.

I use to believe that the US was a heroic freedom fighter... what a fool I was.

After 9/11 I swung completely away from anti-Americanism and I actually became a huge pro-American. I remember telling one of my friends of after he had said something anti-American only a few months after 9/11. I thought to myself: 'My Western cousins are under threat'. I saw the US as being the victim.

The Iraq war only confirmed the truth- the US is not the victim they are the aggressor. and their arrogant approach to international diplomacy: at the throat of anyone who had a different opinion. The whole 'we are running out of patience and cannot give weapon inspectors anymore time at all'. They began an unjustified blood bath. Then Americans began throwing endless insults at my culture. This is my hero?- I thought to myself. This from the country whom I had the most respect for?! the country whom I had passionately supported?! the nation whom I had wept and prayed for?!

The_Exorcist you say that you don't care that we don't like you. Well- I don't care that you don't care. I would only care if I was interested in reconcilliation- which I am not. Unlike what most Americans think I could care less if you vote for Bush or Kerry. I had been fooled TWICE into liking the US and I will NOT be fooled a third time. I am not interested in reconciliation at all.

I will add that americans are taught in school to see the rest of the world as below them!

Could you please explain. I was never taught to view other poeple than less a man. We spent just as much time on the Civil War as the Halucost. Have you ever been in a America School, studied all the history, read the text books? I think your stereotyping Americans. Further more the idea of American being lead blindly is faulse and is simply renforced on the internet by anti-americans.

My opinion changed for the better, thanks to a president who is actually willing to go out and take on those who would bring mayhem and death to our doorsteps.

Thank you GW Bush for your unwavering resolve in this matter.

I don't care,you don't care,we don't care they don't care. Oh well such is life.
by mindy on Fri Oct 08, 04 4:27pm [+]
