Its hard promoting a religion and trying to be funny. There is nothing funny in saying a hail mary or an our father. At least thet are committed to the faith, you can give them that much credit, but no humor.
Well, it's like this: Fundamentalism is defined quite simply as the belief that every word of the Bible is literally true. And there's the rub: the Bible is devoid of humor. That's one of the things that most astonished me about it when I read it cover to cover I cannot recall ever reading any other book so totally humorless; it's as if laughter were an offense against God.
I laugh at the bible quite a bit.
I like the bit about the animal with the body of a bear and the fifteen heads or something. I think there's a bit of leopard in there as well. How funny would that look?
