It has been reported that, Scott Peterson was convicted Friday of murdering his pregnant wife and dumping her body in San Francisco Bay in what prosecutors portrayed as a cold-blooded attempt to escape marriage and fatherhood for the bachelor life. Peterson, 32, could get the death penalty. He was convicted of one count of first degree murder for killing his wife and one count of second degree murder in the death of the son she was carrying. Yes/No, should he get the death penalty, why or why not?

I'd have a hard time committing someone to death. Although, I think he was guilty.

Scott Peterson showed no emotion whatsoever which, in my opinion means that he had absolutely no remorse whatsoever for what he did which labels him a complete psychopath, legally sane but without ordinary human feelings of any kind except lust for sex, money and power just like Adolf Hitler, Saddam Hussien, Timothy McVeigh, Osama bin-Laden, Charles Manson and his gang.....I think that you get my comparison point here! The only regrets Peterson has are being caught, charged with, tried and convicted of one count of premeditated first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder of Connor, his unborn son which should have also been first-degree murder! However, it doesn't matter now as Peterson is still eligible for the death penalty but even if he receives the death sentence, it may well be years or even decades before he is excecuted, thanks to our apellate process which could drag on and on delaying closure for Laci's anguished family! Imagine our legal system adding insult to their injury by setting Scott Peterson free on a technicality! Look how O.J. Simpson's legal "dream-team" got HIM off on a technicality on October 3, 1995 even though he is guilty as hell of those double murders as the jury in the subsequent wrongful-death lawsuit ruled Simpson to be liable in both deaths!

I'm against the death penalty usually, but in this case I can't think of a reason to justify keeping the bastard alive.

That's the way you've got to think, ZIG, when you consider the death penalty. Is all life equal? I think not. For example, a crazy drug-using homeless guy killed a father of two today, but they steered from the death penalty. Is that fair in your eyes?

Is all life equal? Yes it is. Once the death penlty is accepted as civilised they will bring something else more barbaric. Do you really want to be at the thin end of the wedge?
