U.S. Senator Ted Stevens (R-AL), the Commerce Committee chairman, said today (3/1/05) that he would push to apply broadcast decency standards to subscription television and radio services like cable and satellite.

"Cable is a much greater violator in the indecency area," he told the National Association of Broadcasters. "I think we have the same power to deal with cable as over-the-air broadcasters."

"There has to be some standard of decency," he said.

I get a few US channels through cable, they are so politically correct and ram "moral values" down my throat so much it makes me want to puke, so no.

I thought the GOP wanted less Government but it seems there is not going be an area inthe world they do not set guidelines for. I think it is a croc of shit, they want these outrageous fines for saying "shit" on tv but let DOW chemical dump thousands of gallons of toxis waste into rivers and oceans and they get a slap on the wrist which they gladly pay because it is cheaper then them disposing of the waste properly. The GOP once again has their priorities all dicked up.
OR we could just STOP WACHING THE TV...suspense is dead.Gore factore rules the tv shows now,I mean why do they have to show a mangled body for a whole 5 seconds?
These are PAY services. Who is he to tell people what's indecent? He can go f**k off back to Alaska.
(I think its Alabama, Beezlebub)But I agree.
Do away with it completely.
when is enough government, already to much government
If they want to regulate conent so badly, why not do it the old-fashioned ways. Change the channel or turn the set off. If they need to make laws, make some that make it easier for decent people to get jobs and support their families.
I agree with duckhead. The GOP always promises less government. When they get in "less government" means cutting social programs and legislating morality.
Right-wing nutjobs love big government, as long as it is crushing the little guy.

And of course, they know what's decent and indecent because Jesus loves them more than he loves you or me.
