COMMENTS:
I see believeing in God equal to believeing in the easter bunny. I dont look down on people who do, I just think its a little outdated in this age of science, especially as religion has been proved wrong countless times in the past by science
have you read some of the comments on here?
It's not a group of people but individuals that don't respect others views. Why do people of certain faiths choose to look down on people of other or no faith? Some people believe that any thought other than what they believe, is simply wrong.
I know what you're saying is true, Tadema, but oftentimes, those who believe in religion are also looked down by those who believe only in science.

oic aya, I misread your question
I suspect a lot of generalization goes on which contributes to the problem: * Some non-religious do demean faith. * Some who profess faith are militatant with their views Result? Many with faith look at the dismissive non-believers as representative. Many without faith view the militant believers as representative.
I agree with cathexis on this. I would add that I would never criticise someones choice to believe, even though i do not, but would seek to discredit anyone who used it as a tool to look down on people who don`t believe. Most people who do this are the weak sociopathic types who clutch religion in the same way they would clutch a good idea. they like the idea but lack the understanding. they deserve pity really but i`m not that charitable.
Prep, most scientists at the highest levels believe in God because the more they learn about the world and about the universe, the more things they realize they don't understand and attribute much of it to a higher being. It's the scientist wannabes who are atheists.
einstein was an atheist and steven hawkins is one too. that buggers that up bostonian
What Prep_H said. I don't look down on all theists but when they start talking the crazy talk I do.
