US catholic bishops are very liberal and have appointed virtually all of these pedophile preists all the while rejecting better candidates for preisthood largely because they refuse to adopt the modernistic liberal philosophy.There's a book out on the subject however the title name escapes me.
This is not a political issue, robot. A person's sex life generally does not affect the amount of respect I have for them.
Robot- I think it’s a bit childish to call anyone you disagree with ethically a liberal. First and foremost, the catholic church has been largely criticized for it’s conservative nature not how liberal they are. Edger Allen Poe married a 13-year-old back; then it was common, now it is considered pedophilia. It could be just as easily considered a conservative perspective as a liberal one. Lets not be petty.
Celibacy and religion do not necessarily go hand in hand. I have been celibate because I don't want to be father and because intercourse means more to me than the excitement over producing a thimble full of baby gravy. I, am in addition, a Catholic. However as aforementioned, that is not the primary reason why I refrain.

Celibacy is a personal choice, not a religious issue. I'm not religious, but I'm celibate because sex is too risky, most people are unattractive, and I'm too solitary to go out of my way to look for attractive people who also find me attractive.
