Yes. This type of behavior is unacceptable from anyone, regardless of race, religion or nationality. In order to send a strong message that it will not be tolerated by anyone, she should be charged with a hate crime.

Its not about forgiving anyone. I am the type of person that will and have forgiven in the past of anyone who have and/or offended me and those whom I love. It was wrong what she did, as it would have been so had she been a non person of color. However, had a Caucasian student sent the letter, his/her reason(s) I would venture to say would have differ a great deal in comparison to the reason she gave. The point is this, this one incident you provided, can not, will NEVER, measure up to the past and surely, in the future. Again, I don't know how many times I will be required to say this, she was WRONG, that still doesn't excuse your racially insensitive comments and/or remarks and the Racism that exited and continue to in America...
What patch said. If, as I've heard, she did this in order to get her parents to allow her to leave school because she didn't like it, she deserves to go to jail. If I'd come to my mom when I was in college and told her that I wanted to withdraw, I'd like to think that she'd let me, provided that I could give her a valid reason.
