I see I wasn't alone in that guess.
I knew Dickens and Sellers were born here. Between the other two, Nelson was the obvious guess - probably part of London society but then famously Admiral of the navy, which sailed then from Portsmouth. I say 'here'. Actually, Portsmouth is 10 miles away.
I say 'then'. Still sails from Portsmouth... and Plymouth and a few other minor places.
