WHO IS THE US HOMELAND SECURITY PROTECTING?

[+] serious ballot by Cathexis
created Fri May 20, 05
A study sponsored by the US Department of Homeland Security has found that corporate insiders who sabotage computers and networks are motivated mainly by anger against their bosses. The report goes on to offer detailed analysis and a range of actions designed to "Protect yourself."

"Yourself?" This is obviously directed to Corporations.

If the Department of Homeland Security is utilizing resources to "protect" Corporate America from disgruntled employees ... on whose security do they appear to be focused?

Corporate America 54%
The chimp and his owners 27%
Military-Industrial complex 18%
The United States 0%
George W. Bush 0%

COMMENTS:
A government of, by and for the corporations.

Don't they have anything better to do like fixing up some stock trades before changing the alert color?

As always, to Dictator Bushy, the only ones who matter are multi-national corporations and rich people.

Knowing that our ports and airports are woefully underprotected, the choice isn't hard.

Same as it ever was, but more blatant than before.

Pay attention America, and you will see the reality behind the illusion.

The power that really runs America and the world feels emboldened by the events of 9-11 and our collective fear, as well as the reelection of their "cats paw," George Bush. They feel safe to operate openly for the first time since WW II. This is an historical opportunity for us to see (and feel) the naked steel behind the velvet glove.

Homeland Security? Doesn't that sound curiously familiar? Fatherland, Motherland, and now "Homeland." Tyranny masquerading as patriotism is what we are experiencing, and all we can hope is that it is merely a cycle of history, and not the beginning of the end of freedom.

Too melodramatic? I don't think so.

Solid ballot. Thanks.

Hey, Fiddle, there is a line from a Vietnam era (not sure which "police action")which says, "War is good business, invest your son." Eerily familiar, eh?

This is a bit misleading. In all fairness, it is because certain corporations in certain industries deal with very classified information, including intimate details on citizens personal information, such as financial, etc. Hackers target corporate networks all the time and the fear is that terrorists could hack into a corporate network and cause chaos. Can you imagine if they got into the network of a major financial institution like Citibank? They could quite literally bring fiancial markets to a halt and could pirate identities of individuals (e.g. drain their bank accounts, force all of their accounts into over-due status, etc. In all fairness to Homeland Security, their job is to make sure that corporate networks are safeguarded and that is what they mean by "protect yourself."

I can see your point, patch ... however, the study clearly indicated that the perpetrators were disgruntled employees (vs terrorists) and the study was aimed at Corporations, in general (vs sensitive industries).
