WILL THE WAR ON TERRORISM REMAIN A WAR ON TERRORISM?

[+] serious ballot by Cathexis

Domestic environmental activists, deemed eco- terrorists by the government, are on the US Terrorism enemy list. The department of Homeland Security is currently expending resources to help protect Corporations against employee sabotage.

Are these legitimate Terrorism targets? Do they pose a corresponding level of threat to American citizens as the attackers of 9/11?

Ballot Question: Do you believe that the definition of "Terrorism" will be used against what everyone can agree are "Terrorists" or will it be morphed into a convenient weapon used to promote some political agenda(s)?

I think the real question is how long the current U.S. administration can keep picking and choosing who it regards as terrorists, while the rest of the worlds looks on in utter disbelief.

Dictator Bushy is using the war on terrorism as a tool in turning the the US into a police state.

Under the pretext of the war on terrorism and protecting us from harm, the Bush Administration has eroded and redefined down "freedom" in America.

We are now told that locking the nation down protects our freedom. What? We have allowed many of our basic freedoms to be curbed or eliminated in the name of security. If you object to this, you are labeled a "liberal," "commie," or "Unamerican."

And this nut job of a President (or, more accurately his owners and handlers), tells us that people who hate us more than they love life, are blowing themselves up because "they hate freedom!" Incredible! No one, NO ONE, "hates freedom." Period. Such arrogant, stupid lies, and we let it slip by our reason into our subconscious. We unquestioningly accept this tripe as truth. It simply blows the mind away to listen to this and realize it's working. Jeeeees! Are we this STUPID??

If you believe these suicide bombers actually "hate freedom" then it is a short step to convince you that the freedoms being eroded to the lowest level in history are good for America, and that "if you aren't breaking the law, you have nothing to fear" (for now).

It is just plain old scary, and I am not trying to make any debate points here. It is spooky.

This war on terror has been a war on freedom. These creeps have been waiting a long, long time to put us into their unholy fetters. They have done it inch-by-bloody-inch in the past, but now they are snatching it away mile-by-easy mile.

When is it going to stop?Who is going to stop it?

And as to your question about whether the government will use the terrorism as a pretext "against what everyone can agree are 'terrorists', or will it be morphed into a convenient weapon used to promote some political agenda(s)."

Well, both. And your question illustrates a key problem: What defintion of "terrorist" do you imagine everyone can agree on? Hmmmmm?
One thing we know for sure, the White House is busily shaping and narrowing that definition to their own. And we know it's working. And who can imagine that these folks won't use ANYTHING to promote their political agenda?

The real "enemies of freedom" are a lot closer to home than the Middle East.

Great Ballot and question. Thanks for the soapbox.

It wouldn't be the first time when someone uses a tragedy to install a dictatorship. Remember the Reichstag business? Who burned the Reichstag? The commies! Then lets ban the commies and since we are at, lets ban them all. Be careful guys! You got to step out and stop the madness. The democrats should clearly define what they are standing for. It could be only a subjective impression, but I think that the american public, (the ordinary Joe, how you say it) supports Bush, because he has clear opinions and clear views over what US should do next. The only policy the democrats had in the last years was to support minority groups (I am referring to minority views, not ethnic groups), being under the impression that in this way they are supporting freedom. In my opinion this was a huge mistake, because what ordinary people fear the most are rapid social changes. The democrats were not labeled as communist by mistake. This was an impression generated by their actions. This actions contradict, in the eye of the ordinary people, the very definition of the United States. The democrats want to change what people knew as America, so in this way democrats were labeled as unamerican. In fact what are the democrats standing for today? I hate Bush? Respect the legal rights of the people accused of terrorism? More illegal aliens please? Gay marriage? You are never gone win America with this. People didn't vote for Bush because they were tricked to believe Bush will protect them from terrorism. People voted for Bush because they knew he is going to protect them from the democrats.

I said once on a ballot that fascism is the cure for liberalism. Many people thought I was joking and in a sense I did. But the fact is that were liberalism fails, a fascist or neofascist regime it will be install. People will always choose security over freedom and protection against changes over anything else.

This is my opinion and in the fist part maybe I am wrong, I am not a specialist in American home policies. But I am sure that I am not mistaking when I say that all fascism needs to find a way to power is fear. The democrats should become an american party again. It is your only chance.
