Is your decision based on an informed decision, or merely emotion? Set aside our differences and the effects of the 9/11 attack.
Do you really know about the relationships between Christians and Muslims?
The fact of the matter is that Christians have long persecuted/murdered Muslims. The best source for resourses on this come from Professor/Doctor Justin McCarthy. The book "Death and Exile" is the best, in my opinion.
I invite anyone to voice their opinion. But I must implore you guys to read his books to gain a truthfull acount of the relations between Muslims and Christians. Personally, I only knew of the Christaian point of view about the matters he discusses before I read his books. But now, I have a greater understanding.....

The ones following the teachings of their holy book. So its Mulsims 57%
Listen to the ex-Mulisms that have rejected Islam, like Dr. Ali Sina 22%
Christians 9%
Aliens are to blame! 3%
Neither 3%
Are you crazy? 2%
Who cares!? 0%

COMMENTS:
That's a REALLY broad question. Are you talking about the percentage difference between the number of violent acts committed by both throughout the history of mankind?

I do not think anyone can deny that people killed and started wars in the name of christaity, , people who called themselves christians have and still are killing.

We have to separate those christians, from the real christians, who teach and practice love not hate

Absolutely! In-name-only religious zealots are wreaking havoc as only they know how.

If the book deals with the Crusades, that was hundreds of years ago. Time to evlove. I know of no Christian violence toward Muslims in the past 2 centuries, if not more. The past is always relevant, but if it is something that happened 500 or more years ago...time to move on. If we all used the distant past to shape our present behavior, there would not be a living soul left on the planet, as all of us have some other group/race/religion that somehow persectued "us." Sorry, but givent the violence we've been seeing for the past 60 or so years, it is the extreme elemnts of Islam that has turned it into an art form. May not be "pc" for me to say that, but facts are facts.

Patch: So-called Christian nations have been waging endless war continuously within the past two centuries, whether by direct military confrontation or by proxy, doesn't make much difference. Follow the money.

While not taking a position on this issue, I will say that someone who makes a decision on something based on one book is highly suggestible and welcome to join the cult I am starting up. Also, examine the texts of each religion and the lives of Jesus and Muhammed. Also, I will point out that the Quakers are responsible for few if any deaths and the wars fought in the name of atheism are very few.
by FiddleFaddleOnLSD on Sat May 21, 05 9:27am [+]

Zig, but did they do so in the name of Chrstianity? I mean if they did so under the banner of "Christianity" and their wars was against non-Christians specifically, that would be different. Not sure...guess war is war, but if the push behind war is the religions itself, that's probably the difference. The ballot said that Christians have long persecuted Muslims and I guess I just don't see that in recent history. Maybe I'm wrong.
by patch22us on Sat May 21, 05 9:33am [+]

Iraq? The War on Terror? Some see those as vehicles of religious persecution by the Christian 'Right' while others insist they're waged in the interests of freedom. Depends on your perspective and which side of the gun you're on, I suppose.
by xxxxxxxx on Sat May 21, 05 9:50am [+]

Good point Zig. I hadn't thought of it like that and I think you're right in that it depends on what side of the gun you're on.
by patch22us on Sat May 21, 05 9:55am [+]

I sure as hell wouldn't want to be a Muslim female living in Iraq right now.
by xxxxxxxx on Sat May 21, 05 9:59am [+]

Violence is a condition endemic to HUMANS. I've seen atheists blow innocent people away for the price of a Happy Meal. Religion is what we translate it to be, or, all too often, what we allow others to translate it as.
by Truthseeker013 on Sat May 21, 05 7:04pm [+]

Good call, Truth. It is in our nature to destroy ourselves. All we have to do is rationalize it, and then we feel that our actions, no matter how severe, are completely justified. Unfortunately, religion, like tradition, is an irrational means to legitimize an argument.

And I do think it's important to consider all of the past. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. *cough* Vietnam
by Applerod on Sat May 21, 05 9:08pm [+]

Well, Acid, if you are going to both ask and answer your ballot question, and to lobby us to your view, why do you need the Geniuses of B&W involved, eh? Your ballot "question" seems more an attempt at converting us to your opinion.

Overlooking these little details, I think that neither Islam nor Christianity has cornered the market on violence in their name.

History is full of examples of religion being manipulated as an excuse for setting one group against another for all manner of motives.

Same as it ever was.

I'm guessing that the current situation with the Islamic people is being called into question, in which case I would point out that the hostile fundamenalist terrorists who are actually responsible for the bad name muslims have got, are killing to disuade the west from interfering with their way of life. Christians are just about the only religous people in history to install their beliefs on people by force. Whether it be the crusades, missionaries, stopping people in the street or knocking at their doors. Let us not forget, Hitler thought himself to be Christian, and as faith is a personal belief, technically that makes him one. Meaning that the Christian death toll in the name of their (surprisingly poorly understood by its followers) religion is already way way ahead of what any Islamic fundamentalist could hope for. Infact, at the rate they're going, we have to not object to them murdering christians for another 300 years to let them catch up.
by xyriach on Wed May 03, 06 5:19pm [+]

I agree with Islam hater. The rest of the world has evolved exept for Islam. They want to go backwards in time. Hitler was not a Christian. I fact his own mother was a Jew.
