in certain countries
In some cultures they are. But they aren't used predominately because it isn't economical. Raising carnivores for food is much more expensive then raising herbivores. The higher up you go on the food chain you go the more energy you have to put into raising the critter. Besides which, they tend to be lean unlike most food animals and not produce much meat (even large dogs can't compare with an average sized heifer). Besides, only savages would eat a dog under normal circumstances. Cats, well that's a different story . . .
Hmmm. Interesting take, herzog. Yopu may be right. But I suggest the reason is less rational: That these animals are considered "Pets" rather than "Food," and that is the major reason.
Herzog What you say is correct, but i have t take issue with your assertion that " only savages would eat a dog under normal circumstances. " Your perspective is lacking here i think. A dog is still an animal, and is just as fair game for mass production for food as cows and lambs are. You are biased here due to your environment. Not to mention the fact that you are suggesting the vast majority of Koreans are savages.
because it's not popular this millenium but there was a time that they were considered a gourmet meal and I'm sure, at some point, WAY off in the future, things will shift again. It's just an illusion that we're going forward. We're just circling around through times and customs.
I think he was joking about the savages part.
Because they taste like s#!t.
Humans are animals too, does that make us fair game?
If you arent human, yes. Unless you want to be a cannibal?
ceejj is a cannibal!
In some cultures they only eat vomit. I've never been there, but I read about it...... IN A BOOK!
No RawIron, don't you know conservatives aren't human so it wouldn't be considered cannibalism ;-)
fight fight fight!
