What are you on about? The majority of Australians ancestors came here after the convicts.
Ditto, Tadema. My take on this question is that all of us descend from the most successful predators in the history of the planet. If we had film of the bloody deeds of our distant (and not so distant) ancestors, none of us could stay until the end.
^So, even if the Aussies were mostly descended from "criminals," they couldn't hold a candle to the monsters who managed to survive the ages.
Well their was immigration post-penal colony. So, not all are descendants of crims. I think they call the others of the Commonwealth POHM. See who is the real "prisoner"?
POHM = prisoners of his/her majesty. The Australians have been liberated in sense that the Canadians and the British haven't. That is what I think how the argument goes.

Well... wasn't it in Stripes when Bill Murray said something about Americans being composed of all the people who couldn't make it elsewhere? SOmething about Americans being mutts too. But look at Australia and America! We kick ASS!
Yeah, us Aussies should be trusted, just like Canadians and Americans, we all are criminals as our ancestors stole the land from the rightful owners.
