I vote yes with a little codicil - I have reservations about those who did time for murder, rape or child molestation.
by mojo on Sat Jun 11, 05 7:36am [+]

yeah, I do have a problem with child molesters having any rights, including the right to keep their penis
by larrynelmira on Sat Jun 11, 05 8:35am [+]

I think American Citizen who have commited crimes shouldn't be allowed to get into the whitehouse, but they do :o)
by xxxxxxxx on Sat Jun 11, 05 12:16pm [+]

they are in some states, any felons can have one felony removed from their record every few years by a judge. i think in my state the first is 5 yrs, and then another every 3 yrs or so.

I'm against ex-wives being allowed to vote.

^Now I know the source of your bitterness. =:-)=
by CletuSlackedJawYokel on Sat Jun 11, 05 1:51pm [+]

when i said my state, i meant TN. i'm in VA now, and they have a lifetime ban, only a pardon by the Governor here can restore rights.
by JohnnyReb on Sat Jun 11, 05 2:34pm [+]

Well, i'm definatly a yes on this one, seeing as I am an ex-felon, and I have had my right to vote restored.

As far as molesters and rapists, I don't they should ever be allowed out in the first place. Ever.
by malckdaddy on Sat Jun 11, 05 2:46pm [+]

I'd have to agree with mojo in that respect. the most violent offenders shouldn't enjoy those rights. They shouldn't enjoy freedom, for my money.
by Truthseeker013 on Sat Jun 11, 05 7:25pm [+]

Yes: Voting gives a voice in Representation. Losing the right to be represented effectively makes one a non-member of the country -- what would be the incentive to remain law-abiding?
by Cathexis on Sun Jun 12, 05 11:08am [+]

the ones still in prison, no!! but if you are out of jail/prison, and complete parole or probation,yes..
by xxxxxxxx on Sun Jun 12, 05 2:21pm [+]

Yes. Apart from violent criminals and sexual/chold abusers. these people are never truly cured. Cant say I accept the death penalty. But on the whole the point of prison is to teach a lesson and as SH said whats the purpose of punishing them if they are to be punished after they have served their time. god knows most ex offenders have a hard time getting work.
by xxxxxxxx on Wed Jun 29, 05 11:56pm [+]

Oh yes,How long do they have to pay for the crime that they commited.I don't think child molesters should have right to vote though
