COMMENTS:
Blacks commit violent crimes against whites at a 10 to 1 rate versus white on black crime. But I guess no one cares about that.
Because it was their minority
ur right jr we dont
I'm not white, but i'll say right away that those laws are rediculous. Although, from the description there, i'm not seeing exactly how this particular crime is a hate crime.I need more info mabey? But if it was a hate crime it should be prosecuted as one regardless of race.
that's not what the father's point was, basically he's saying, his daughter is dead, why should the person who did it get off easier than someone else just because of the reason they killed her, considering the intent to kill was there in both instances?
Johnny, its far higher than 10 to 1. Its over 100 to 1, as I understand it.
The tables are turned against whites now just to make the blacks feel more strong or free. I hate the governments and their laws, they can all go to hell.
"Hate crimes" are a masked agenda. If you juxtapose crimes stats with convictions of "hate crimes" it becomes apparent that there is an agenda.Take the example that jappy supplies and compare it to the following ADL(the outfit that got it's start defending a pedophile child murderer simply because he was Jewish) stat: Of the 9,239 identified hate crime offenders, the majority were white (6,054, or 65.5%); 20.4% were black, 8.2% were of unknown race, and the remainder were of other races or multiple races. The example that jappy supplies is one of countless such cases which collectively illustrate the agenda being pushed by hate groups like the ADL.
Take a look how the ADL defines "hate crime". The following facts, particularly when combined, help support the classification of a incident as bias-motivated: 1. The offender and the victim were of different race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, and/or ethnicity/national origin. For example, the victim was black and the offender was white. 2. Bias-related oral comments, written statements, or gestures were made by the offender which indicate their bias. For example, the offender shouted a racial epithet at the victim. 3. Bias-related drawings, markings, symbols, or graffiti were left at the crime scene. For example, a swastika was painted on the door of a synagogue. 4. Certain objects, items, or things which indicate bias were used. For example, the offenders wore white sheets with hoods covering their faces or a burning cross was left in front of the victim’s residence. 5. The victim is a member of a racial, religious, disability, sexual-orientation, or ethnic/national origin group which is overwhelmingly outnumbered by other residents in the neighborhood where the victim lives and the incident took place. This factor loses significance with the passage of time (it is most significant when the victim first moved into the neighborhood and becomes less and less significant as time passes without incident.) 6. The victim was visiting a neighborhood where previous hate crimes were committed against other members of their racial, religious, disability, sexual-orientation, or ethnic/national origin group and where tensions remained high against their group. 7. Several incidents occurred in the same locality, at or about the same time, and the victims were all of the same race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or ethnicity/national origin. 8. A substantial portion of the community where the crime occurred perceived that the incident was motivated by bias. 9. The victim was engaged in activities promoting their race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or ethnicity/national origin. For example, the victim was a member of the NAACP or participated in gay rights demonstrations. 10. The incident coincided with a holiday or a date of particular significance relating to a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or ethnicity/national origin, e.g., Martin Luther King Day, Rosh Hashanah. 11. The offender was previously involved in committing a similar hate crime or is a hate group member. 12. There were indications that a hate group was involved. For example, a hate group claimed responsibility for the crime or was active in the neighborhood. 13. A historically established animosity existed between the victim’s and the offender’s groups. 14. The victim, although not a member of the targeted racial, religious, disability, sexual-orientation, or ethnic/national origin group, was a member of an advocacy group supporting the precepts of the victim group. Notice the obvious bias through the samples provided.
In countries where similar "hate crimes" laws were passed many people who simply challenged the official Jewish version of the holocaust in public or through writing books now sit in prison.Freedom of speech is under full assault and we are losing it here in the US too.The abolishment of dissent already has one foot in the door here in the US.It's bad enough that there is virtually no objective criticism of Israel from the mainstream press and now they are attempting to create the same environment on the interenet and in bookstores.
Sigh. All i can see is knee jerk reactions here. As ever it goes "OH no dont let them abuse us!!" We`ll just forget the last 300 years of abuse of black rights. Slavery, ku klux klan, random lynching, forced poverty (which creates gangs) and complain when the shoe is (slightly) on the other foot. White american hypocrisy makes me sick. Do you realise how racist most of you sound? I dont think any of you give a damn about the girl, just chosing to see how it would affect them. what would you feel if the victim were black? would that be different? And how does political correctness cause racism?? its kind of a recent thing and yet racism has been going for centuries. Please explain! Isn`t it odd also that the ADL seem to spout the same crap as hitlers nationalist party did from 1933 onwards?
OK mobsie,I understand that you think people who are white should not raise concern about the current double standards in upholding so called "hate crime" laws even though I don't know any responders here that would not object to such a doublestandard imposed on nonwhites.I ask you do you think that these doublestandards are of no consequence? I also understand that since slavery occured a long time ago in the US,which you appear to attribute to whites(as a stereotypical group no less/IE not individuals)exclusively, that again whites should just shut up and stop sounding "racist".My question to you is how is any of that relevant to the posed ballot question?Where is your rebutal?Where is your anger that the animal perpetrators of that heinous/racist crime are treated differently than the two animals convicted of dragging James Byrdd to death?
I believe they do serve a purpose. Conversely, hate is hate and needs to apply to all cases where it is appropriate.
"I dont think any of you give a damn about the girl, just chosing to see how it would affect them. what would you feel if the victim were black? would that be different? And how does political correctness cause racism??" I believe anyone with a heart would care about a girl, or man for that matter, of whatever race or color, who is killed like this. If the victim were black and the men who did it were white, it would have been just as bad (althought he outcry would have been way more noticeable). And if you wanted to be completely honest, hate crimes legislation goes against political correctiveness, as does affirmative action.
"We`ll just forget the last 300 years of abuse of black rights. Slavery, ku klux klan, random lynching, forced poverty (which creates gangs) and complain when the shoe is (slightly) on the other foot." I never owned a slave, my ancestors never owned slaves, I was never a member of the KKK, I don't even know anyone who was in the KKK. Isn't it rather racist to attribute the actions of a few to everyone else just based on skin color? Kind of sucks when that table gets turned, doesn't it? Also, when exactly do people begin forgiving the past and moving forward? Would it make sense if I, as a Christian, talked about the persecution of Christians by the Romans, and how Italy now owes me something for that? There is still work to be done on racial relations, you want to remember the past but don't focus so heavily on it that it becomes an anchor to positive progress.
I`m gonna try and answer both of you at once. I reacted to MK`s comment about "The tables are turned against whites now just to make the blacks feel more strong or free" which implies that its ok for whites but not black. In britain we have the same thing. you cannot be a victim of hate crimes because your in the majority and therefore the law itself breaks down. legislation is needed but the problem is if that happens then I think hate crimes will increase and not drop (you create a crime and people rush to fill it)and another little war will begin. The legislation needs to be across the board or scrapped altogether. If I hit an asian theres a good chance it will be seen as a racist attack but if he hits me chances are it wont. I`m sure the law has something to do with immigration which just adds to the confusion (cant speak for america there tho i dont know) One thing I do know tho. Its ok saying stop looking into the past but lets face it without slavery there wouldn`t be hardly any black people in america. so youve only got urselves to blame (that last bit wasn`t meant to be taken seriously) I agree with you jappy that looking into the past doesnt solve things but this is a very complex issue and as it stands the laws are outdated to protect the victims. but things have changed and then, like now, it wont change overnight. I think the real problem lies in the unspoken crime. The government have a fear that if they legislate for both sides to make them equal. suddenly all these crimes which have gone unmentioned will be brought to the surface. Much paperwork for the people who dont need protecting. Lets face it when do you hear of things like this happening to "influential" people. They dont see it so they dont care. but if you say that you want to change the rules it means they have to accept responsibility and we know where that one goes. File under T for trash. Unless you wanna do the martin luther jappy thing?!?
