big list of reasons.

I was raised Catholic and somewhat brainwashed as a child. But then I found out that were other people out there that weren't Catholic and they weren't so bad, in fact some of them were better people than some of the Catholics I knew. And the Catholic Church just kept telling me things that seemed contradictory to other things they were telling me (could they be hypocrites?) - like Love your neighbor - but not that guy - or I believe the Austin Lounge Lizards phrased it as "Jesus loves me, but he can't stand you". And then I realized that no matter how they tried to cover it up - they really believe women are inferior, or at least they treat them like they believe they are inferior. and as I read and learned more, it became apparent that most religions have an ulterior motive and the whole idea of a god, goddess, gods, whatever you want to call it - was just too simplistic - too much a reflection of our own human ego. So it wasn't so much a change of heart as an enlightening.........
I can accept that some people have a need for religion, or find comfort or value in it -but it just isn't for me and hasn't been for many years.

A lot of contradictions puzzled me... But the definitive event that made me change was when I knew about the inquisition. I was 13 then.

Just read the Bible. Anyone who has, and has understood it, cannot possibly hold true to Christianity.

when i was about 6 i figured out the bible was a book of fairy tales. When i was about 13 i learned about evolution.so pretty much when my brain kicked into gear about 7

Too many instances of people claiming to be "of the Faith" and yet acting /behaving in ways contradictory to the tenets of the Faith were the start of my loss of faith.

Out of body experiences and contact with my spirit guides made me realise all faiths lead to God. Plus I realised hell doesn’t exist and the Bible is not the word of God but the word of man. But I guess I didn’t really believe in Christianity anyway oh and that soul searching thing.

Word of man...
Remember Moses Seon?
He is one of the authors of some of the books in the Bible. Moses talked and walked with God. So much that when he returned to his people he had a glow in his face and his hair was turned snow white.

Glowing face and white hair? Sounds to me like he had a one to one with the almightily alright.

Dignified is there any historical evidence outside Jewish writings that Moses even existed?
Sorry for the late reply I didn’t realise anyone replied to this comment.
by seon on Fri Aug 19, 05 5:40am [+]

Is there evidence that Moses really existed? Well, in my eyes the answer is yes. Because faith is the substitute for things unseen. Do you understand? But to truly answer your question, no.
by dignifiedlove on Sat Oct 15, 05 3:02pm [+]

See its faith and for centuries humanity have believed the word on Moses based on Faith while for all we know the Levites could have written the bible and invented a false Jewish history.
