WHY DO RELIGIOUS PEOPLE VALUE DEATH MORE THAN LIFE?

[+] serious ballot by xxxxxxxx
created Tue Jul 12, 05
Have you noticed that the more religious one becomes, the more they disdain life and value death. For example, look at muslim extremists, they would rather blow themselves up instead of leading a useful existence. Christain tribulationists are trying to rush their end of the world self-fulfilling prophesy so they can all leave life on earth in their "rapture". Buddhist radicals light themselves on fire to protest their cause. It seems these people cannot deal with the reality of life so they create dellusions of grandeur in a fantasy afterlife. How sad is that?

they create dellusions of gradeur in a fantasy afterlife 3
all of the above 2
they can't handle real life 0
they are lacking a western education 0
suicide is a form of cowardice and selfishness 0

COMMENTS:
Ever notice that you never see a religious leader who preaches this practice offer to 'take one for the team'?

And when they target their enemies, it's usually some poor schmo using mass transit instead of the real villains on their private jets.

One reason is brainwashing. They're brainwashed to follow without compuction or an original thought in their empty little heads. Another reason is perhaps no reason to live? For example, if you look at Japan, it's had a long tradition of suicide, and there is no religious ordinance against suicide over there, and, with the economic downturn, suicides have become much more common over there.

This is kind of a broad over-statement, don't you think? Have you met all religious people?
by patch22us on Tue Jul 12, 05 2:30pm [+]

each of us generalize everyday, you don't drive into a bad neighborhood because that you "generalize" that it is less safe. You don't jog at midnight because you "generalize" it is less safe. You "generalize" that suicide bombings are caused by the sweedish bikini team. Save your pc thought crimes for another ballot
by xxxxxxxx on Tue Jul 12, 05 2:35pm [+]

I mean you "generalize" that suicide bombings are NOT caused by the swedish bikini team
by xxxxxxxx on Tue Jul 12, 05 2:36pm [+]

Well I don't think these are PC thought crimes, as I am far from being PC. Very far. I just feel that these "generalization" are wrong. Plain and simple. If you don't, that's your business. However, once you put a ballot up, tough luck if you don't like the responses.
by patch22us on Tue Jul 12, 05 2:41pm [+]

I also notice how you "never" allow for people to add choices. How's that? Is that the type of "generalizations" you mean?
by patch22us on Tue Jul 12, 05 2:42pm [+]

it's all good patch

So wait, you're not going to yell at me? You're not going to freak out and call me a snot nose little bas*ard or something along those lines? :)

Cool! Thanks because I was waiting for that. It seems lately that all out war breaks out on the ballots and if you say something wrong, you get verbally creamed. Thanks for not doing that! :)

ever heard of a little thing called BALLOT SABOTAGE
by xxxxxxxx on Tue Jul 12, 05 3:04pm [+]

LOL! That response is sort of like a dealyed reaction, isn't it? Yes, I know that sometimes people sabotage ballots, so thats true. Since your response was a delayed reaction, maybe the verbal assault is coming too? Given the conditions on this site lately, I have just come to expect it. Ooops, that generalization will lead to another verbal assault by some user I'm sure.
by patch22us on Tue Jul 12, 05 3:08pm [+]

actually the large caps are meant to be sarcastic, but I have had most of my open ballots sabotaged, I wish there was another way..
by xxxxxxxx on Tue Jul 12, 05 3:10pm [+]

Excuse me your ballot should read extreme religious people. Almost everyone I know is religious and no one is doom and gloom like you describe it (except the democrat ones)
by ceejjj on Tue Jul 12, 05 6:28pm [+]

I am a Christian and I have never seen any other Christians value death more than life. Odd, I have never heard of such a thing. Oh well.
