WILL THE COMING HYDROGEN AGE BE BETTER THAN THE FOSSIL FUEL AGE?

I'm a firm believer that pure science will always prevail through modern technology. Humans can lie, cheat, and kill, but when it comes to maintaining our way of life, the scientists will always be there with the answers.
It's now quite obvious that hydrogen will someday soon be a viable alternative to fossil fuel dependency for the whole world.
So...will the world be made safer? After all, we will have no reason to depend on foreign oil, no need for military presence in these hostile lands, because hydrogen is everywhere, hydro-electric dams will be modified into huge hydrogen production facilities. Why? because you require two things to make hydrogen: water, and electricity.
Will we have less wars? Will rich nations then devote their time towards nation building in poor, underdeveloped countries, where the only returns would be a better quality of life for it's citizens, and modest agricultural trade with the world?

Yes, the world will be better 6
No, there will always be strife in the world 4

COMMENTS:
It would be better, but you have to keep in mind if you get into an accident no matter what you are dead, because hydrogen is the most active element on the periodic table and is very easy to make a huge explosion. When that happens we must be prepared to accept the reprocussions that come along side the use of that technology

But these scientists are the same people who brought us into the atomic age,and the atomic bomb, the same people to make gun powder, and bullets. You can not take humans out of the equation, because scientist are human. We must always remember to look back at history in order to advance into the future

As currently envisioned, Hydrogen is not being planned as an alternative to fossil fuel, but as an extension.

Current plans are to extract hydrogen from coal ... a fossil fuel.

The world will be ... different ... if this is enacted. Plus. I predict the entire world will not shift -- there will be holdouts that continue to use oil as long as it is available, until the costs outweight the infrastructure costs of converting.

Energy-related geopolitical power will shift. But so much is geared by the human components (greed, lying, cheating, killing, etc.) that the forms may shift, but the Status Quo will live on.

Will the oil giants allow us to have clean cheap hydrogen and be independant of their monopolies? Not any time soon. The technology is here and they suppress as much of it as they can. Hydrogen explosians are fairly safe compared to gas explosions because the hydrogen rises quickly and disipates in the atmosphere. The Hindenburg burned because it was covered in a highly flamable doping compound and thus the skin of the blimp caught fire. Since then most ppl have had an irrational fear of the technology. Good for the oil companiesl.

I fear there will be no Hydrogen Age. Look at who's hugging all the patents.
