COMMENTS:
But prohibition outlawed drinking. So would the opposite happen if the legalized drugs and drug use would actually go down?
Maybe that's what he's saying? I agree that it would go down, along with crime.

Cannabis is a leaf product, like Tobacco.. and like that other leaf product, its true worth is around ten cents per pound, NOT the astronomical black-market value we see today. Dealers are in this, not for the drugs, but for the biggest profits possible, bigger even than pharmaceuticals industry (and those guys are into Big Markups!)
Alcoholism post-WW1 happened because it was The Only Chill-out Hobby for guys, after workday. There was NO cinema. NO malls. NO TV. NO Cable. NO Xbox, NO nuthin! What to do? Either drink or fuck. and fking only gets you in deeper, with MORE goddam kids. Answer: you DRINK! Today's a lil difrnt. Ppl do drugs(and alcohol) more by conscious choice, to forget the crap of a world led by a TX coke freak: it's a frickin wonder there isn't a FAR WORSE drugs problem!

Personally I don't think ALL drugs should be legalized, just marijuana. Why just marijuana? Because it's the only "drug" that people cannot die from overdosing on....they only fall asleep. Put certain restrictions on it the same way they did alcohol (I.E. driving while under the influence, ect) and the gov't could actually make money on it and focus on the drugs that actually do kill people instead of putting people in prison for growing or smoking a plant.
