Not if the forgiveness is motivated by self-gratification. Example: "I forgive you because I'm better than you."
To err is human, to forgive is divine. Can't remember who said that exactly, but it rings true for me.
Depends on the situation. Sometimes it is not, Johnny, because of altruism, as well.
I think so - forgiveness can mean giving up your self-righteous anger, your resentment, your bitterness. The one who does benefit the most from forgiveness is the forgiver because he (she) can move on with life.
