IS IT REALLY POSSIBLE THAT GOD HAS A “PLAN”?

[+] ballot by RobinGaylord

I think this is a bit of an ignorant idea. First of all God is supposed to be the embodiment of perfection and perfection can’t be improved upon, so it would seem pointless to have a plan. And because he is all-powerful he shouldn’t need man’s help since we are far less than perfect and could never possibly be of any use to an all-powerful perfect being in achieving anything. Anything he wants to do he can do and he can do it instantly since he is perfection and there is no need for human involvement as a matter of fact the whole universe with all it’s flaws seems quite sub par for an infinitely powerful perfect creature. What do you think? Is it really possible that God has a “plan”?

God, in all statistical likelihood, is not real. We established that about 458 ballots ago.

RobinGayLord, in all statistical likelihood has issues. We established that about 458 ballots ago as well. We get your point dude.. You don't believe in God. Stop making all these stupid ballots.

If you guys aren’t getting anything out of these ballots then why do you keep turning up in them? I think I’m asking legitimate questions and I want to see the answers. What’s wrong with that? Is it really so horrible to ask people to question aspects of their lives upon which they have established at least part of their morality on? If you guys are happy visiting ballots about Britney Spears’ bowel movements that’s fine but leave these ballots alone and stop cluttering them with your useless comments.

I think it would be possible. Is it true to say that Perfection has no need of a plan? Or is that an assumption? Could one argue that Perfection without a plan is not really Perfection (e.g., what is the point?)

And as for not needing Man's help, you assume much. Just speculating wildly: What if the purpose is "entertainment?" Or companionship? If we limit ourselves in assuming thenature of the Ends, we limit our scope of what is possible.

Finally, we all assume "perfection." In fact, we make a lot of assumptions as to the nature of God. Then we make analyses based on ... this speculation.

In light of what we really know, I'd suggest that the possibility can't be so easily dismissed. Is it definitely true? I have no idea: You won't see me arguing either way that one or the other case definitely is Truth. I don't know.

If there is a god - I'd say god was just bored and wanted to be entertained. In one of my more bizarre fantasies about creation, I imagine higher beings playing a game, maybe competing with each other. They create a universe or two or three and start some sort of consiousness going and then set it spinning, evolving while they just watch to see what happens. Then they get bored and just leave us to fend for ourselves.

The question of whether "God" has a plan assumes an eternity of things not in evidence.

First, most Western folk automatically conceive of "God" as the Judeo/Christian model (one who is wrathful, spiteful, jealous, together with forgiving, loving, and grace giving)which is pretty confusing and contradictory when you look at it from a strictly rational (not to be confused with believing) perspective. In order to believe in this version of God, we must believe also that a being who created universes, galaxies, star systems, planets, people, etc., must communicate with His creation in doubletalk and riddles. Seems fairly unlikely to me.

It seems to me (not to be confused with knowing, or having any special insight) that we exist within an boundless eternity. I see it as a kind of endless ocean stretching forever in all directions, with no shore line. We have individual existences something like currents in this ocean, and when we cease to move, we blend back into the eternity. Notions like "perfection" or "sin" and such, are part of our temporary individual existences as currents. Nothing less, nothing more.

But maybe the crazies have it right. Don't think so, and hope not, but who knows, eh?

Nope...creation of man was a total accident that God resents and wishes never happened. Here's a question...is it possible that RobinGay has thoughts on any other subject than proving God exists? Or does he even bother to read the comments that people leave on his ballots?

Yes, I believe there is a plan, but a plan with infinite patterns and outcomes, rather like a cosmic kaleidoscope, which may involve, and to some extent be reliant on, the participation of all life on some level - not just human life.

^Don't know that I'd agree this was "reliant" upon the participation of any category of reality because we participate by our very existence, and it is not a matter of will. Or so it seems to me after several cups of coffee. #:>)

But if you believe that "The Kingdom of God is within you" (from the 'gnostic'/banned gospel of Thomas) as I do, then yes, all of life's infinite path would be interconnected on a quantum or spiritual level.
Creation would involve every living thing to an extent, as God has left a vestige of the divine spark in each and every atom.
BTW, I'm not a pantheist, but I do believe that each living thing is a part of the Whole. Just the way I see it...
A couple of hundred years ago I'd probably be burned at the stake for such a heresy. ;)

no.
if god exists and if he has a plan then he must be an evil devil who gets pleasure from tormenting the helpless.
it's more generous of me to think he doesn't exist. at least that way i don't think he is down right bad.

You mean like god's plan to rid the world of evil by flooding it then using the same humans to repopulate it? Good plan (eyes rolling).

Why would God be the embodiment of perfection?

The entire Planet Earth is a Great Experiment, a fairly well-balanced
Biosphere, as well as a fantastic Artistic Endeavor, and a Cosmic Entertainment Center, and a Fascinating Experimental Endeavor, particularly as regards the relatively intelligent Human and his works..
The GOD of Reality is far beyond the imagining of the Humans with their microscopic brains. Beyond comprehension, beyond understanding, beyond imagining.
But not to worry, intergalactic intelligences are here..!!
