political : ARE BUSH AND HIS FOLLOWERS TRYING TO PUSH FOR THE END OF THE WORLD?

There are a number of factors responsible for Bush retaining the presidency for a second term. One aspect is that the majority of Americans are fed up with the democrats pandering to minorities and the party's pushing a pro-welfare soft on crime agenda. The second factor is that a majority of Americans see the republicans as being tough on crime, strong on defense, and believes people should pull their own weight. However, the man reason Bush came out stronger than Kerry is that his campaign tapped into the hearts and minds of millions of tribulationist evangelical christains. These people believe that America is in gods favor, even mentioned in the bible, and that America plays a significant role in returning the jews to Israel so that their armageddon will start. They believe that once the state of Israel is created then an all out nuclear war will start, after which they believe they will be taken up to heaven by Jesus in what they call a "rapture". The ironic thing and an aspect that worrys jews is that the christian evangelical only view the jews as a prop in their end of the world fantasy. They believe that once all the jews are returned to Israel the ensuing nuclear war will kill off all the jews and that all jews will go to hell while the evangelicals will sit at the right hand of god. As crazy as all of this sounds, this is the belief system of millions of every day Americans, a majority of which live in the southern/midwestern reigions of the United States.

A furter alarming side note is that the Bush administration is deregulating virtually every environmental protection standard. These actions are leading to millions of tons of extra particulate matter placed into the atmosphere, and the increase of mercury levels beyond scientifically acceptable levels. The impetus for these actions may be a collection of business freindly moves combined with the evangelical christian belief that god gave man the right to run roughshod of the planet and to have "dominion over the land and all living things". This could be another precursor to their end of the world fantasy in that there is no need to have a sustained livable environement when the world will be ending soon in their own eyes.
