I would only welcome him if he isn't part of any radical Islamist, Jewish, Israeli terror organization. Otherwise he can go to hell. I don't know if it's just me but whenever someone has 'gay' on their resume it doesn't effect my opinion of that person at all. It's like having brown hair; just another attribute.
