COMMENTS:
I've done at least 10 in Windows XP. All running at the same time: AutoCAD, Revit, Outlook, Access, Excel, Word, Explorer, Media Player, Acrobat, etc.
But, for those of you who are thoroughly SICK of hearing b__ch and moan over my computer woes, rejoice. Tonight, I placed an order for a new comp in the mail. ABC, I'm STILL going to be dropping you a line, though. I want another system for myself, and I can just about fit it into my budget. I think.

An infinite number. Consider: Even though you have finite space on your hard drive, that space can be configured in infinite ways or patterns, or programs, through shared files, etc. So...there it is.
I can have 10 or more open at the same time as long they dont consume a lot of resources. So, if i have to use flash, director, dreamweaver etc i keep no more than 4 open.
