I have seen "political correctness" used as a way to ridicule the inclusion of diverse groups into mainstream society. And there is a valid concern that, sometimes, in the effort to be sensitive and tolerant, there is a reluctance to criticize an individual who does criminal or inappropriate things because he/she belongs to a minority. But in the same way, isn't blind patriotism, - my country, right or wrong - a reluctance to criticize the actions of a government however inappropriate, or criminal, because you are a citizen represented by that government?

Nice question. I think blind patriotism is definitely a result of media brainwashing, however, I wouldn't quite categorize it with PC.
