Yeah, I saw that too. I tried to take the particular situation they talked about and compare it to a different religion.
For example, Quakers oppose all war and believe in pacifism and will not serve in the military (the only real exception being: WW2, where some served in non-combat roles like medics, etc). Quakers try to eumulate the teachings of Jesus and the early church to a T.
As opposed to the muslims in the example you stated, you will never find a single Quaker who even will remotely support or make some rationalization as the muslims in that piece did - regarding terrorism. It was rather sickening to watch.
What I saw is people trying to rationalize in a politically correct way how other muslims might be driven to terrorism.
Qaukers wouldn't make excuses. They would simply say: We oppose war in all forms. Not a single rationalization that GWB or Bush is killing other Quakers or anything. No waffling, no excuses/rationalizations or BS.
I think religion should come first. But if your country is at war and you don't support it because of your religious beliefs, you should be prepared to pay the consequences. Quakers, for example will go to jail rather than serve in the military.
Trying to rationalize the Iraq situation as a religious issue, as in GWB and Blair killing all those muslims everyday is pure bullsh*t in my opinion. That is a side effect of the war. The intention of the war was not to kill muslims but to remove Saddam or get the Oil (whatever you choice is).
While I didn't support the war nor the way it is being managed, Iraq will likely end up better off than before. Many muslims appear to oppose any war fought on their soil by non-muslims even if it removes a genocidal dictator and makes that country better off as a whole.

Sounds like I'm being flippant but I'm not. Personally, I feel that the notion of country is too abstract. To me "country " exists as a corporate entity which garnishes wages to go to war. Like the fundamentalist, I put my beliefs ahead of the notion of country. I would also place city ahead of country because I believe I make a difference in "my city."
