Should Bush get rid of the tax cuts for the wealthy to help pay for Hurricane Katrina relief or should we pass the cost on to our children???

The tax cuts for the wealthy could go a long way towards aid for the people or New Orleans and rebuilding. Should these tax cuts be done away with or should we continue to run up deficits and long-term debt that our children and grandchildren will have to pay?

Why should we pay for anything now. In fact I'm thinking of getting a ferrari and having my future kids have to pay for it in 30 years. Live for today! Woo-hoo!!

He should, anyway, as it adds to the burgeoning debt and undermines even his own ill-conceived military excursions. This is just one more item to a long list.

No. Americans have been too indoctrinated into thinking that if the government needs more money all it needs to do is raise taxes. Yes, that will do the trick, but you might also want to consider the arcane concept of 'cutting spending'.

Let's say you have a certain income and you become accustomed to that income. Then you lose your job and get another one at half the salary. Do you continue living as you once did and act shocked when you go into debt? Or do you compensate by spending less money? It's such a simple concept, I don't see why it baffles so many people.

I agree herzog, spend less money, if someone would tell Washington that problem will be solved
