Interestingly, while continuing to engage in an expensive overseas war, ordering reconstruction of the Gulf Coast, funding huge expansions of government like Medicare precriptions, allowing to pass pork-slathered expenditure bills, and insisting there will be NO tax increases -- nay, that his last series of tax cuts will be made permanent and even extended, George W Bush still insists that we will cut the deficit in half by 2009.
