G.W. BUSH: THE MOST FISCALLY IRRESPONSIBLE CHIEF EXECUTIVE IN AMERICAN HISTORY?

[+] ballot by Cathexis
ACTIVE Sep 19,2005 - Fri Mar 07, 08
Yeah, yeah, I know ... dismiss this question as more "Bush Bashing." But, if you look at events, anyone who is a true fiscal conservative or libertarian will find this a question worth pondering.

One unflattering answer to this question comes from Fiscally Conservative commentator Fareed Zakaria:

"Whatever his other accomplishments, Bush will go down in history as the most fiscally irresponsible chief executive in American history. Since 2001, government spending has gone up from $1.86 trillion to $2.48 trillion, a 33 percent rise in four years! Defense and Homeland Security are not the only culprits. Domestic spending is actually up 36 percent in the same period. These figures come from the libertarian Cato Institute's excellent report 'The Grand Old Spending Party,' which explains that 'throughout the past 40 years, most presidents have cut or restrained lower-priority spending to make room for higher-priority spending. What is driving George W. Bush's budget bloat is a reversal of that trend.' To govern is to choose. And Bush has decided not to choose. He wants guns and butter and tax cuts."

So, do you believe that Bush will be remembered as the most fiscally irresponsible chief executive in American history?

Yes <1%
No: He does not qualify for that title <1%
No: He deserves it, but it will be whitewashed <1%

inter_regnum: Exactly teh response I'd expect from someone who was blindly allied to a politician. Ignore the facts, ignotre the situation ... make it all personal.

If he does something stupid, I call him on it. Note that I *always* deal with facts and situations. Thus, in reality, it is an 'Anti-Bush ballot' only so far as it highlights his actions.

And any ballot that doe sthat will, have a high likelihood of being 'Anti-Bush.'

You NEVER deal in facts.

Case in point your argument is to attack me.

That is an ad hominem attack.

It is not a fact that I am what you say I am.

You simply dismiss anything contrary to YOUR BLINDLY FOLLOWING POLITICAL IDEOLOGY as following an ideological platform.

How is that fact?

And should snarky comments on ballot only be allowed by people like you and those you agree with?

If your hands were clean I would agree with you.

But your hands are filthy.

And if you weren't so politically motivated you wouldn't only put up ballots about how Bush does things wrong.

Hey man, that is your right

as is it my right to point out your idiocy.

smiley faces. I wish I could dot my i's with little hearts.

Voted : Yes
Yes, but a close call between the two Bushes and Reagan. Those three guys individually ran up more debt than all other presidents combined, and never once submitted a balanced budget to Congress. Clinton submitted eight in eight years.
