feh! We have to deal with the softwood lumber dispute, and detaining the pres would lead to even more strained relations, something the pres doesn't want to risk. Cheney by coincidence just happened to be here a month ago, surveying the oil fields of Alberta.

I think that might put a slight "strain" on our relationship. Even I would be for getting him back by "any means possible."
I think that Canada would quickly learn that they would not be permitted to do that. It definitely is a hypothetical. But it is something that is more believable if you substituted Belgium for Canada. lol
Ohh, and you would have to assume that in seizing him there wouldn't already be an intl incident, when his secret service started shooting things up. And there is no small amount of armanament alloted to these guys.
The Secret Service would empty their M4's and handguns into anyone who put a hand on him...working in parallel, the Pentagon would put into action a plan drawn up long ago for a situation just like this...
