We consistently think of the US's actions when it only makes sense when we drill down (so to speak): * Government: Invades, incurs costs, loses prestige * Private oil corporations: Reap benefits -- not only with no costs, but they are subsidized to do so. Cheap gas prices are in the interest of the Society (and supposedly Government). High gas porices are in the interest of private oil companies. You do the math.
Utter incompetence and war profiteering, plus not enough troops to make the country safe.
Who said "I will use my special relationship with the Saudi royal family to keep gas prices low."
Well, I noticed in the paper last Sunday that Texaco and ExxonMobil were both hiring. In poker, they call that a tell.
Kind of puts the kabash on the idea that the Prez did it for cheap oil, but that is the political part. The issue is just one of increased demand especially from China, and several supply issues (Venezuela and Nigeria) amongst others, as well as the fact that America hasn't built a new refinery in over 20 years. There is also the little matter of hurricanes that sort of messed up an area where many of the nations refineries are located.
Why, it happened because we haven't touched Iraq's oil you dumbass!
Maybe Pat Robertson could work his magic with Chavez. Didn't Chavez offer the poor of America cheap fuel after the hurricane? Oooooh, he so evil.
Our Congress is allowing the individuals it was elected to serve to be robbed. Most Dems and Reps are bought off by the corporations. I feel helpless.
I agree with USrocks
