DOES IT TAKE THE ACTUAL WEARING OF GLASSES TO MAKE YOU REALIZE HOW BAD YOUR VISION IS?

[+] ballot by xxxxxxxx
ACTIVE Dec 03,2005 - Thu Aug 28, 08
I went to the optometrist last week, and the eye-doctor told me that I needed glasses. So the doctor ordered a pair and I picked out a stylish set of frames, and the glasses came in the mail on Thursday. I knew that my vision had softened in the past few years or so -- squinting to discern stuff from far away. But now that I'm wearing glasses I realize just how soft my vision was -- right now I'm looking at a poster that's like six feet away from me, and while I can clearly identify the poster either way it's so much sharper with the glasses on. I didn't realize my vision was that bad. Is this the case with most people, that they don't realize how bad their vision is until they get glasses?

COMMENTS:
For months it has been tougher to see things from a distance, like road signs or clocks, but now I can see it all quite clearly using my spectacles -- it makes things so much easier to see, y'know?

Before you got glasses you were probably so used to the blur that you didn't notice it that much. I don't remember what it was like for me when I first started wearing glasses because I was only 5, and by the time I started paying attention to my own vision, it had already become much worse.I'm really tired of having such bad eyesight, which is why I've started looking into natural vision improvement.

same thing happened to me, I had to get glasses, and I was amazed, I never knew what I was missing.

Yes. And I wish that was my only vision problem.

Nope. My vision in the 20/x sense isn't that bad. My problem is that my brain tends to ignore the signal from my right eye (lazy eye).

Nope. It takes me removing my glasses to work on the computer, and then getting up and starting off somewhere else without them.
