SHOULD ALL POLITICIANS BE HELD TO THE SAME STANDARD?

With the N.Y. Times & others jumping up & down about Prez. Bush's spying on people with known ties to terrorist organizations after 9/11, you might have missed the fact that both Clinton & Carter did the same. In fact Clinton signed America up with a 4 other countries (including England) spying organization called "Eschlon" which
"60 Minutes" exposed in the 90's. One top Eschlon figure stated that he knew for a fact , having heard the taped, that we once taped at least one conversation of Sen. Strom Thurmond (don't know why we would) but the point is the press isn't going out of their way to point this out.
The dems. are fussing about the policy despite the fact that the W talked about it with their top people in the Senate on more than a dozen occasions.
Question: Is it fair to call one politician out for doing exactly the same thing your canidate did & got a pass on? (no fussing from the dems. when Clinton's people were exposed)
fair? or should they be held to the same standard?

Yes , they should all be held to excatly the same standard 1754
No, only wrong when the other guy does it 7

COMMENTS:
Yes, clearly they should. But I dont remember clinton and carter starting a war based on unreliable information from aforementioned spying. So clinton and carter should be reprimanded. Bush however should be held up to the world as an example of a warmongering murderer. The saddam hussein of the west who lets people die knowing that the repercussions wont affect him because he only cares about votes. There seems plenty of evidence to suggest he rigged that too.

^? what? I went to that ballot & it is about Ken Star's investagating Clinton & the money spent ? Other than the fact that he caught the guy lying & spent a lot of money I don't see how that relates to this question as stated?

As far as answering for something I think Cliton did alot worse things he should have answered for, the Monica thing & lying under oath- while wrong, was hardly the tip of the iceberg.

Also more to the direct point why do you think the "mainstream press" isn't talking about the hypocrisy?
(pardon all the posts just trying to get to the just of the ballot)

mobsie I know you hate W but if you call him a warmongering murder than you know that is what you must call FDR & Lincoln not to mention Kennedy & the Vietnam War. & the whole rigged elections is an old accusation , it was the t.v. news that try to say Gore won, & that announcement was made before a historically Republican are in Fla. had closed their voting boothes & the were the only one's reporting low voter turn out after the announcement. They recounted the votes 3 times & each time W was ahead. (Not to mention it was Gore that tried to get them not to count the military votes because they are overwhelmingly republican & he & his team knew that). Either way the vote there & the S. Court went with W.

^ so your saying that fdr lincoln and kennedy went to war knowing the information was false?

As for vote rigging you clearly forget to mention all the blacks who were denied a vote for past crimes they didnt commit. one of whom happened to be a judge. How about all those dead people voting too? Hmm again you chose to believe what they tell you too.

All politician scumbags should be held to the same standard (unless they are blonde and have a really nice rack).

We have more to fear from government than from anything else.

Any politician that authorizes illegal spying on his own people ought to have his ass kicked.

Everygirl, I felt that ballot addressed double standards in politics better than any I've seen on BestandWorst.

However, you got more specific in your description and that ballot didn't address those issues.
