If US start a War with Iran, it will be same as the Iraq War. US will bomb everything, then get stuck there for many years. China and Russia will be pissed, but most likely they won't do anything. So the idea of I will beat you up before you kill me is actually ok. Power have a funny way of changing people, assume nothing happens now, and Iran obtains nuclear energy, eventually they will want nuclear weapons to put more bargaining chips on the table.. even Iran have nuclear weapons, it does not bother me, US will take down any weapons flying this way. But what Iran is saying is that I will murder your dog if no one stops me. Now Israel has been a good dog for many years. In many ways, Israel is a more loyal dog than Japan. Now imagine someone tells you he hates your dog, and he is planning to buy a gun, while you already have a sniper rifle target on the fool... It's really hard not to pull the trigger.
