advice : sports : HOW THE HELL DO YOU HAVE A TIRED SHOULDER ON THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING TRAINING?

I'm a Yankee fan, and I read that Tanyon Sturtze was scratched from his throwing session on the first day because of a tired shoulder, and that he'd have to rest it for a couple of days. IT'S THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING TRAINING!!! How the hell do you have a tired shoulder on the first day, before you've done any substantive throwing?! It's not like he'd been pitching for months and months prior to that. Presumably, he'd thrown a bit to keep in shape, lifted weights, did other strengthening exercises, etc. Tired shoulders usually come into play around midseason or later. I mean, I like Tanyon Sturtze and all -- he's a damn good swingman for the Yankees and came around right when they needed him the most -- but how the hell do you get a tired shoulder on the FIRST, DAY, of SPRING, TRAINING?!?
