political : SHOULD THE US ABANDON TIBET TO WIN THE FAVOR OF CHINA?

Tibet was an independent nation, with religious freedom, and that harmed no one. Tibet was invaded and occupied by China in the early 1950's while the world-including the U.S-stood by and did nothing. Any diplomatic efforts to address this terrible injustice only seems to make China more aggressive. Should we abandon Tibet in hopes of winning the approval of the larger and more powerful Chinese government, even though that makes it almost inevitable that Tibetan culture will be eliminated and their people oppressed?
