I don't mean to come off as sexist here, but it seems as if women, when either in charge or assuming authority, are a lot more anal than men. Men usually just delegate and are cool with everything, whatever happens (keyword: USUALLY). Women usually tend to micromanage a lot and worry and fret about every last detail (keyword once again: USUALLY).

Case in point: Today at the county Democratic convention, this chick I go to school with was bitching at me, like, constantly. I was sitting in a classroom and, without thought, I was erasing slashes in dates written on the whiteboard (turning 2/28 into 2 28, for instance) -- okay I shouldn't have done that, but it wasn't anything that caused any harm. I also had stuck my finger along a surface and collected a bit of dust along my fingertip. This one was fully harmless. In both these cases, that chick just ripped me a new asshole, like, hardcore. She was telling me how I had to move and sit down and all this (this was also during down time, when nothing was going on, mind you), and I told her that I wasn't causing any harm (and in fact offered to add the slashes back onto the whiteboard to make amends) and told her in no uncertain terms to leave me the hell alone. She then said that she was a (position of no significance at all which I can't remember) and that she couldn't leave the room and all this shit that was essentially irrelevant -- basically playing power-trip on me, which I didn't buy. After she found out that I wasn't buying into her anal power trip, she took my advice and left me the hell alone. (Ironically, she left the room five minutes later, defying her own power rant.)

A guy who I was in pleasant conversation with and I looked at each other when she left, I mouthed the words, "What a bitch", and he fully agreed. No need to have gone off like that.

When we finally started doing some business (assigning delegates to the district convention), our group needed to get 14 delegates, and we had 14 people who were willing to be a delegate. Seems fair enough. In a situation like this, it's common to vote to suspend the rules and vote in all the delegates in one fell swoop via voice-vote. However, the girls refused to do this, and we had to do a written version of this, stretching about 10 seconds of work into a half-hour.

Several guys wanted to suspend the rules, but the girls refused to entertain the motion to suspend.

Why is it that women tend to be so much more anal than men? Most guys in positions of power whom I've interacted with were really cool, didn't flaunt it, and went with the flow; most girls in power positions whom I've interacted with were the opposite. Why is this?
