"He has shown himself incompetent strategically, operationally and tactically, and is far more than anyone else responsible for what has happened to our important mission in Iraq. Mr Rumsfeld must step down."

Retired major-general, Paul Eaton, who was, until 2004, responsible for training Iraqi troops.

"Columnist, Maureen Dowd, quoted 'one Administration official' as saying that Mr Rumsfeld 'does not hold the same sway in meetings any more, that he's treated as an eccentric old uncle who pops off and is ignored'."

Yes, Rumsfeld is incompetent. He doesnt understand that
1) The F-15 should never be replaced as it is the best ASF in the world
2) The US military should be equipped with a new tank version
3) The USN should order ONLY aircraft carriers
4) The USN needs more aircraft carriers than it has now

And of course, should Egypt do something stupid, like shutting down the Suez Channel, who would make them reopen it? The US? I don't think so.

Rumsfeld is an incompetent surrounded by lightweights who have no respect for the suffering American public. We would have had a better administration if everyone, starting with the president was selected via a national lottery of taxpayers. First name drawn is president, etc.
