SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT INTERVENE IF ALL OF THE WHITE PEOPLE IN A COMMUNITY SEGREGATE THEMSELVES FROM THE REST OF A COMMUNITY? IF SO, HOW?

Under the following circumstances:

All of the white people from a community form a new town outside of their former one. They buy up all of the land to prevent anyone from moving in except those they want. They don't use any state or federal funding and send their kids to private schools within the town so they can be educated how the parents see fit. All of the businesses are locally owned and don't employ anyone outside of the owner's family. The town is kept afloat by a trust fund put in place by the original founders that will continue to generate more revenue than is taken out indefinately.

The town is somewhere in the 50,000-100,000 population range, so it isn't a small, isolated place.

Should the government intervene in such a situation? If so, how? What should society do as a whole?

well it depends. Do they spread racist propaganda outside their compound?

as long as they spend their own $$ and not negatively affect the surrounding communities, they can exist without any problems. (ie. amish)

is this happening somewhere near where you live?

THough, were I in charge, I'd be sorely tempted to remind this little burgh about the perils of moving contrary to the wishes of the Federal bureaucracy.

It wouldn't succeed because the town would STILL be located in the USA and subject to all Federal and State laws on discrimination based on race, sex, disability, etc.

No. Since it is funded by a private wallet, has no government funding whatsoever, is owned by a private group, it has the right to do whatever it wants. If it bothers someone that they aren't allowing non-whites, then that someone is free to build their own town that does allow non-whites in it.

Hell no! Freedom of association.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Where does the race element fit in? Are the people of the town violating federal anti-discrimination laws, such as those that apply to the workplace?

No people have the right to live where they want and with who they want. You can't force tolerance down peoples throats because it will only make them further hate the strangers they are trying to run from.

The Fair Housing Act, a federal law, prevents racial discrimination etc. when selling or renting property.

As soon as someone non-white is turned down from renting or buying property there, the onwr of the property IN THE TOWN would be guilty of discrimination.

And LCD: The Amish lifestyle is part of their religion which excempts them from certain state an federal laws in certain situations.

Voted : No
They are handling it as if it were a family commune. I don't think the government can tell a family who it has to live with.
