This is stupid. If a Canadian moves to the US and becomes a citizen, is he a Canadian American? African Americans have their label because they are black. It is a bizarre mixture of political correctness, lack of identity, painful history, and an excuse to behave "differently" while demanding "equality."

Technically, if she became a US citizen she would be african american.
It's odd that people would protest this, she is actually from africa. WHereas millions of people in the US who have never once set foot on the continent of africa refer to themselves as african-americans, without any hesitation.
Who has more claim on african heritage: someone born and raised there, or someone whose interaction with africa comes from watching the lion king?
She isn't of African descent she's just another invader of African land.
