COMMENTS:
From 1946-1951 3,091,205 half dollars were minted showing Booker T. Washington on the obverse & the mottle "FROM SLAVE CABIN TO HALL OF FAME" on the reverse and again from 1951-1954 2,422,392 half dollars were minted showing George Washington Carver & Booker T. Washington on the obverse with the mottle "FREEDOM & OPPURTUNITY FOR ALL - AMERICANISM" on the reverse.
While Spanish Queen Isabella was pictured on 24,214 quarters in 1892 in celebration of the 400th anniversary of Colombus' discovery of the Western Hemisphere, it wasn't until 1979 that an American woman, Susan B. Anthony, was the object of a US coin.
I don't know, but whatever the case, it is important to remember that many years passed before either was considered.
I find it shamefl that any human has been slighted by our government for not being a white male. I love my country, but hate many of the things it has done.
