WHY DID BUSH ORDER THE INVASION OF IRAQ, BUT NOT SUDAN?

[+] serious ballot by cranky

In the final explanation for why the U.S. invaded Iraq, Bush claimed it was because of the way Saddam oppressed his people, especially the acts of genocide. In Sudan, however, even greater acts of genocide have taken place, and are still taking place, yet Bush says virtually nothing.

Since the situations have such similarities, why did Bush order the U.S. to invade Iraq, but not Sudan?

The Sudan doesn't have enough oil to make it worthwhile 6
With Iraq, it was personal between Bush and Saddam 5
Iraq had WMD's, they woulda bombed US, *Bang Pow* 3
Or North Korea 2
After Iraq, the U.S. is a spent force 0
There is no money in it. 0

COMMENTS:
Iraq had demonstrated not only the ability to manufacture WMDs, but to use them. Iraq had also invaded and taken over Kuwait previously. In both countries GENOCIDE had occurred (still is in Sudan). Saddam was viewed as the bigger threat to stability of the region (middle-east, ie. where all the oil is) than Sudan. The US was afraid of Iraq being able to dominate the region and control the oil. Of course, all the WMD stuff turned out to be nonsense. I knew that at the time.

However, GENOCIDE had occurred in Iraq and is now occurring in Sudan. The US is morally wrong for doing nothing to stop it in either case. Of course, no big surprise. GENOCIDE is hardly the stuff that the average person cares about - UNFORTUNATELY.
