COMMENTS:
In the upcoming June 2006 issue of the Emerging Infectious Diseases journal, this will be detailed (the exception for avian flu H5N1). Numerous studies have found this to be true. This appears to be why the avian flu virus spreads beyond its normal home in the
respiratory tract to other organs. This is why it is so deadly to those who get it.

I'm just guessing, but I'd think that being aerated for any length of time would destroy the virus's potency.

Hmmm. must confess, I do not know.

Can an influenza virus be cultured in blood medium, assuming temperature was regulated and antobodies were removed or neutralized ...?

I don't think so ... I don't believe that virus targets blood cells for its reproduction. But, as I said ... I'm speculating.

Flu attacks the respiratory system. The only exception so far appears to be with the Avian Flu.
