I'm against it definately. But, I don't think that the people you named did all that stuff because they were beaten as children. I'm sure that there are many successful people who were beaten as children.
I've never been spanked or smacked or anything. My parents would never do that. We turned out okay. Or have I?

Come on! Why do so many people argue about this. I got the spanking, and grounding, and yelling. etc. But It doesn't work like you want it to. But dont get me wrong, Im not siding with those morons who say: "Don't spank them, it's wrong" blah blah blah. Even though I didn't like it, and It didnt work, I dont resent my parents for it. I still love them. I just thhink all methods right now suck. Try something else instead of arguing which non-working method is better. . . they both suck!

I'm sick of so called Christian parents, too, that claim "spare the rod, spoil the child" is God's word. Guess what, Christians? It was spoken by a MAN, a POET, who was talking about the Rod of a Sheppard! Hitting teaches potential violence, it causes fear rather than respect. Is that what you want in your kids, to fear you? Schools that still hit should be ashamed of themselves. Wonder why the top 5 states that allow hitting, Mississippi/Alabama/Georgia/Texas/Arkansas, end up with the lowest graduation rates, lowest GPA's of grads, highest dropout rates, highest rate of disciplinary problems, and...drum role please...HIGHEST INCARCERATION RATES OF YOUNG ADULTS UNDER 21? Gee, ya think? Teach, educate, lead by example, folks, and you CAN raise children that are loving, obediate, free thinking, and law abiding young adults!

Spanking your kids is a punishment not some type of torture treatment. Kids get spanked when they do something bad, and deserve it. do you think the shooters were good well behaved kids and then just shot someone out the blue? NO! these kids where bad and desevered what they got and if it wasn't for the spanking before they would have killed MORE poeple because they wouldn't think twice.
