London- The French have been voted the world's most unfriendly nation by a landslide in a new British poll published. They were also voted the most boring and most ungenerous.A decisive 46 percent of the 6,000 Britons surveyed by travel website Where Are You Now said the French were the most unfriendly people on the planet. The Germans have no reason to celebrate the damning verdict. They came second on all three counts.

Italy was voted the world's most cultured nation with the best cuisine, while the U.S was named the most unstylish with the worst food. When asked about their own nation Britons voted it average on all counts. Are the Brits right, are the French the rudest and most boring people on the planet?

COMMENTS:
You left the choices box open. I notice that you did name the group being surveyed. I think it's fair to say that British opinion is inherited. I'm sure THEY would have voted the exact same way 300 years ago. Doesn't mean it's right--or wrong for that matter. Only that it accurately portrays the stereotypical opiniation and arrogance of THAT culture. amusing.

from my experience? no. and Brits aren't either. am I going to say? no again. I wouldn't want to prejudice anyone else's opinion as I have met very polite people from the nationality/culture that I consider typically the rudest.

The French, like all other peoples, have their share of rude, boring citizens.
by xxxxxxxx on Sun May 21, 06 7:48am [+]

English soccer fans are the rudest. Was it the French that tore up Lisbon Portugal? No.

A lot of people I know have experienced a lot of rudeness in London. A lot of arrogance.

I found the Germans to be nice. Italy? They are the most convenient to English speakers, which really is a bunch of meaningless nothing for me but a great deal for the Britons.

The US has a lot of good restaurants. The people polled must have been arrogant to think there is only fast food. Britons amaze me at how they denounce France and the United States for being nationalistic, when it is obvious most of them are just as much, if not more, patriotic.

Americas are unstylish...right Im pretty sure that most clothing styles come from U.S.A.
by USRocks on Sun May 21, 06 8:00am [+]

^Very true, most fashion trends start in the U.S and spread to the rest of the world.
by Corrupt on Sun May 21, 06 8:04am [+]

^ umm partly true. The US does have a significant impact. But I wouldn't say most.
by xxxxxxxx on Sun May 21, 06 8:19am [+]

The US may have championed the development of various "street" clothing styles but many of these actually originated abroad (e.g. jeans were invented in Italy, the T-shirt dates back to WWI when US soldiers noticed the light cotton undershirts worn by European soldiers, the bikini and the miniskirt were invented in France, etc. etc...)

Besides which, style is about more than just clothing.

"^Very true, most fashion trends start in the U.S and spread to the rest of the world."

You have no clue to how wrong that sentence is.

From what I've seen, yes, the French are boring and rude, but that's just me.
by habeas_corpus on Sun May 21, 06 9:11am [+]

Corrupt, that may be true for the 'gangster' wear like rocaware and akdmks but everything else that most of the world wears that's not true. Go on over to Europe and tell me if what they wear can even compare to what Americans wear.
by habeas_corpus on Sun May 21, 06 9:12am [+]

They're *not boring*, but they are ruder than all get-out. And I say this after looking anumber of Frenchmen and women face-to-face.
by Truthseeker013 on Sun May 21, 06 9:36am [+]

H_C how much different can American fashion be from European fashion?Aside from sub-cultures like the gothic look from Germany or 'gangster'look from America we westerns dress alike.
