COMMENTS:
TEN FREAKING PERCENT. TEN FREAKING PERCENT. Yet, Mexico recently passed laws barring most LEGAL immigrants in their own country from holding most government jobs, even police posts. Yet, Mexico has very draconian border control along its own southern border. Yet, Mexico has some of the most restrictive naturalization laws in the Western Hemisphere. It's rank hypocrisy from Vincente Fox and company, and we should stand up and stop being used as a dumping ground for his country's excess population. After oil, we're Mexico's largest source of revenue, and I think they need us more than we do them.
i reference this in my newest ballot, which i encourage you all to see and comment ^^ (shameless plug)
2 things. one, felix, i just made an entire ballot on what you comment on, so don't steal my thunder. two, you know whats going to happen -- take a look at the 3 most recent ballots. bet me that tomorrow someone will have advanced the theory that me and felix are all "kool aid drinkers."
I will definitely swing by that ballot of yours, Kev. I'll be the one breaking down the wall and screaming, "Oh, yeah!"
0% If they live here, how can they be part of Mexico's population?
10% OF Mexico's population is living in America.Read it on the Drudge Report.
kev's ballot is here ballot #94575
And if the Republicans remain in control of the U.S. government, eventually it will probably be 50%. We're not addicted to oil; we're addicted to cheap labor. But look on the bright side: maybe a lot of them will move to New Orleans, get amnesty from Bush, and vote Ray Nagin out of office.
Kev: I have never suggested that Felix is a Kool-Aid drinker. He strikes me as very indpendent-minded.
And the incredible statistics are that 15% of Mexico's work force is in the U.S., and that given the present rate of immigration, one in seven people in Mexico's work force will immigrate to America. In other words, the people most likely to form families, have kids, and put down roots. Better brush up on your Spanish, boys.

^ oh yeah, thats right, because i'm gay, you suggested it was something else. forgot about that. sorry. nearly forgot that i was a "mad queen" for a minute. gotcha on that one, didn't i? so straight felix, who often agrees with or supports herzog is "an independent thinker" but "queer kev" must be --- what cranky?? must be what? hypocricy at its best ladies and gentlemen!
what percentage of Europe's population is currently living in the US? What percentage of America's military is in Iraq, Afganistan, etc.etc if we reduce human beings into abstract numbers and percentages, it will be a lot easier to run the trains and confiscate their belongings. History will repeat itself.

LCD: what percentage of europes citizens are living in the US? A very small amount I'd imagine. This isn't a question of how many americans have mexican heritage at some point. It's how many citizens of the soveriegn nation of mexico are currently residing in the US. It's not about some old school democratic, FDR style concentration camps being set up, nor mass murdering them. It's about enforcing our borders. Would you compare the detainment of murderers and rapists to the holocaust as well? Or do you believe only brown criminals should be let off the hook for their crimes?
LCD your argument holds no water because it was not turning the jews into numbers that allowed the Germans to murder 6 million+ people it was demonizing them. The German youth was constantly told how evil and inferior the jews were a that is what made it them easy to kill.Don't be so dramatic.
^Right, and the anti-illegal immigration people in the U.S. would NEVER demonize illegal immigrants, such as assailing them for their negative effect on the economy, being drain on taxes, excessive criminal behavior, transmission of diseases, or regressive culture.
^ so whats your solution cranky? huh? do you have one? lets here it know-it-all.
^ hear it.
With all do respect cranky all those things you mention are true.It is not demonizing a person to state the facts,is it?
Corrupt: Many of the things I mentioned are being vigorously argued. Plus, interpretation is extremely important. But, in principle, I agree, that the simple statement of facts doesn't demonize anyone, it's how the facts are used that makes the difference.
Kev: My solution would be to: 1. Impeach Bush (and Cheney) and get a president that REALLY cares about stemming the flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S. 2. Vigorously enforce--and toughen--laws that prohibit employers from hiring illegal aliens. Some jail sentences for businesspeople and large fines would go a long way to solving this problem. 3. Significantly increase border protection. Expand the border patrol by thousands and build a fence, across the entire Southern border, if necessary. 4. Begin developing a realistic amnesty program. It is unrealistic to pretend that we can send 11 million people out of the U.S. That's my solution, in a nutshell.
^ not bad.
cranky that is an execellent plan and I think many republicans would support such a plan.If only the congress would propose something similar to that.
^Yes, and if everyone could get over the superstition about amnesty. I was please to hear Ahnold talking sense about the impossibility of tracking down and removing 11 million people from the U.S. However, I'm in no way in favor of unchecked immigration. As a nation, we have a right and an obligation to control who comes in.
TOO DAMN MANY !
good work
