They protest at the funerals of soldiers, waving signs that say things like "God hates fags", "Thank God for Sept. 11", "Fags die, God laughs", and "Thank God for dead soldiers". Their message is that God is killing the American soldiers (as well as others) because they fight for a country that more or less accepts homosexuality.

As long as he's not killing anyone, I dont think his message or actions would warrant the death penalty. That would make us just as bad as him. I respect his right to protest and believe what he wants to, but I in no way agree with it and personally find the man disgusting and full of hatred.

He needs to quit picking single anti-homosexual phrases out of the Bible and actually look at the messages that the man his own religion was founded on preached.

I agree with you. I find him disgusting and hateful yet I still support his right to free speech. Even though anyone who thinks 911 was a good thing is evil.
Yep if he actually obeyed Jesus’ teachings he wouldn’t be so hateful.

You cant execute someone because you find their views repulsive, thats draconian to say the least. Nor can you give them life in prison, unless you wish to emulate the Chinese (or even American?) Government.

In principle, I agree with a ban on picketing at funerals, on grounds of moral decency. Though this may be "unconstitutional" .

Either way though, free speech is free speech. You cant cherry pick who can and who cant exercise their right to it.

I oppose hate crime laws in general, but even without that, they haven't really done anything illegal.

And you can't arrest, let alone execute, someone for unpopular speech.

That sounds more like a fascist or communist regime than a democracy.

Take away their sheep. That would be punishment enough.

I know you have this thing about executions, but I am against capital punishment in all cases. I am not aware of any crimes they have committed that would warrant life in prison.

Maybe not any legal crimes, but hate is still a crime.
by Psycho_Frighead on Sun May 28, 06 9:48am [+]

How exactly is hate a crime?
by herzog on Sun May 28, 06 10:11am [+]

But we shouldn't execute them. We need the bullets for use in Iraq.
by Truthseeker013 on Sun May 28, 06 10:45am [+]

We *can*, however, order them to protest *in* Iraq...

How exactly is hate a crime?
by herzog
Exactly. Sinful according to some traditions, yes. But criminal, I dont think so.

Hate is an emotion. It's how one expresses that hate that is the problem.

Plus, I'm pro-life. I'm against the death penalty, and the war, too. Not just abortions.
